Scissorhands enters Sci-Fi London's 48 hour film challenge

This year Scissorhands enters Sci-Fi  London's 48 hour film challenge. Over the weekend 12/13th April we had 48 hours to take a supplied line of dialogue, a prop and a title and weave them into a finished film. All writing, filming, editing, in fact everything that goes into making and finishing a film, had to be done in those 48 hours.

The Digney family - good friends of ours fortunately - lent us their children and home to make the film. Can't thank them enough as perhaps they hadn't realised quite what an undertaking having a film crew in your home is!

Johny directs for Maverick Sabre

My new showreel

Its's been a while since I've done a showreel but I enjoyed editing my work to music by the very talented Lorde. Must be one of the last people to have heard this particular track but it's really quite joyous. 

Johny's short for the Reed film competition

Johny has dipped his toe in the narrative film genre with this entry for the Reed employment agency film competition. It's a fun little short which Johny turned around with no money and near enough no time. We're hoping that it makes the final cut as it would be well deserved recognition for Johny's talent and hard work.

Film for BHS

Scissorhands was recently commissioned to make a film for BHS. The aim was to show how BHS has reorientated its brand  in order to better meet the wants of their core customers, and communicate this to staff throughout the business. Working closely with the BHS HR team, Scissorhands set about scripting a nice little film that made clear what the BHS brand stands for.

It was a fun shoot with days at their London HQ and regional stores in Reading and Stoke-on-Trent. Their staff couldn't have been nicer and we can anecdotally confirm that northern hospitality is unparalleled; when the Scissorhands production vehicle broke down in the BHS loading bay, the number of staff prepared to help push it up a hill to give it a jump start was overwhelming!

The finished film should be available to view in the next couple of weeks

Three films for Hyundai...

Scissorhands was recently commissioned to supply a series of  behind-the-scenes films for Hyundai's latest TV campaign. Each film covered the making of a commercial for the latest iterations of the i10, i30 and ix35.

Directed by Gorgeous Enterprises highly acclaimed Frank Budgen this was a great job to work on...my new 5D mkiii had a good work out and I could watch an acknowledged master put together three unique and interesting promos. Watch the films here
