'Wild' will be showing at this years San Francisco International Short Film Festival. It's the second time that 'Wild' has screened in the States and hopefully not the last as there has been interest from a few other US festivals. More news to follow...
Wild screening at the Isle of Wight Film Festival
Wild has been chosen to screen out of competition at the fantastic Isle of Wight film festival. 'Cinema by the Sea' is very tempting with the weather as it is.
Wild selected for the East End Film Festival
Wild is still going strong on the Festival circuit. This time the East End Film Festival have very kindly selected the film to play as part of a programme called 'Battles'
The festival looks fantastic. An clear highlight for me being Ben Wheatley's 'A Field in England'.
Wild is showing on the 29/06, 6pm at the Stratford Picture House
Editing Gran Turismo launch film
I recently worked at Mighty Fine Productions editing a film for the launch of the new Gran Turismo game...I think they are up to 6 now! The concept was a nice one; to show one of the game's new cars overtaking cars from previous versions of the game.
The edit required high impact, fast paced editing with an eye on the needs of the compositor / 3D op who needed to track the older cars into some of the shots
PG Tips Digital Content for Mother London
I recently edited various films for Mother London's new PG tips campaign. The films support and expand on the TV spots narrative with Al and Monkey are getting into deep water when their mothers visit the shoot. Not sure if they are online at the moment but once they are I will post a link
Film for the Kernel Brewery
I spent quite a few days in January and February filming at the wonderful Kernel Brewery. I am a huge, huge fan of their beers - I think anyone who has drunk one of them knows they are something special - so making a film for them was a massive privilege.
With Evin O'Riordan I came up with a brief that aimed to try and avoid the pitfalls of a straight forward promo / corporate vid where it's all about message and heightened emotion. Instead, we wanted to try and create a film that was a portrait of the brewery and the people working in it; that conjured up the craft and attention to detail involved in creating these type of beers.
The look is quite a raw one with all camera work being hand held - I used the 5Dmkiii with a basic documentary kit. The structure of the film is loose and fairly opaque, so if you are trying to find out the specifics of their brewing process you'll struggle, but I hope it works as something suggestive and evocative.
My greatest regret is that the film is not accompanied by some olfactory break out kit as the smell of hops and malts in the brewery was something else.
